“I can't recommend Visme enough in terms of the millions of ways you can use it to engage people with your work and ideas and for it to be communicated in an impactful way.”

Chantelle Clarke, research student at Central Queensland University

When sharing valuable research and complex information, it’s important to showcase your findings in a digestible format so your audience can easily understand what you’re working to convey. After all, you’ve worked hard to gather this information. You want to make sure that when you get it in front of an audience, it’s meaningful and digestible so that your hard work pays off.

Research student Chantelle Clarke is acutely aware of this, which is why she started searching for a creative design tool to present her research projects via a one-minute video.

The university-wide video assignment was called “Visualize Your Thesis,” and Chantelle took advantage of the opportunity to further educate her viewers on the impact of lipoedema on women and their mental health.

“I'm always looking for ways to help raise awareness of the condition and the struggles these women have and the importance of supporting their mental health through compassion, so when the university put the call out for people to put together a 1-minute video on their research project I jumped at the chance.”

However, Chantelle had no experience working on a medium like video. So she needed to find the best tool for the job—and she found Visme.

How Chantelle Uses Visme in Her Work

With an impending video project, Chantelle knew she needed to find a tool that was easy to use and could help her visualize important information in a digestible way. She also wanted to find a tool that would allow her to create a fully animated video so she didn’t have to worry about camera work.

But with no video skills and no animation skills, she didn’t know where to start. Until she found Visme.

“Looking around online, I came across Visme—and let me tell you, it was such a relief when I found it. Here was a simple way to solve my dilemma! The presentation format was more familiar to me and it allowed me to combine something I was more familiar with within the educational and research sector (presentations and slides), with the animations and music I needed to allow me to put it all together and download as a video that was able to explain my research visually.”

Aside from the video presentation she created, Chantelle incorporates Visme into her work in a number of other ways. While she loves the tool for presenting research (especially because Visme has a number of professionally designed research presentation templates—see below), she also uses it to create infographics, social media graphics and GIFs for recruiting participants to a research project.

Your research presentation does not have to be dull and boring. With the right template, you can wow your audience and keep them riveted as you present your research.

Chantelle also used Visme to pitch a social enterprise idea at a conference, earning herself and her team accolades for their innovation.

“While I’ve received positive comments on the presentations I’ve made for research purposes, the most notable was the fantastic feedback from judges I received when my team pitched a social enterprise idea at a recent leadership conference. The judges made special mention of how we used the Visme platform to create an exciting presentation that we could click through as we talked.”

She’s even received some work creating social media graphics with Visme for various businesses. And it’s now the only program she uses to create presentations or any other piece of visual content she may need.

How Chantelle Created an Award-Winning Presentation in Visme

As we mentioned before, when it comes to sharing your research, it’s important to come up with a visual style that’s going to turn heads.

“For research, many think that just doing the research is enough. That is not the case. In order for your findings and results to make an actual impact, people need to know about it. And to do that effectively, you need to communicate that information in an interesting and engaging manner.”

As a part of her graduate thesis at Central Queensland University, shesubmitted this video presentationto help showcase her findings:

And the impact she made was incredible, helping her to win the video competition as well as reach women who suffer from lipoedema and let them know their stories are being told and their struggles are being voiced.

“After entering it into the "Visualize Your Thesis" competition at my university I shared the video with the lipoedema groups who could then vote on it. And after winning the competition at CQUniversity as the overall winner and viewer's choice, I went on to the international level where I won the "Trending on VYT'' competition (this is separate to the overall winners), which was awarded the entry that received the most views during a particular week of the competition.”

The first and last slides were required by the competition, but the rest of the video was created inside Visme.

Chantelle used characters, slide transitions, custom animation, and voiceover to create an impactful video presentation that helped her spread the word about her research. She had only 10 days to create this video, and was able to figure out everything in Visme with just a little help from our support team.

“They always responded within a day, which I was very grateful for given my short timeline. The ease of use of Visme and the great support was definitely what enabled me to get it done on time coming from a place of no experience whatsoever.”

All in all, Chantelle was thrilled with the results of her Visme video presentation, and in her words, “I honestly can't see me using another platform for quite a while!”
